| At
an early age June thought that she would be following that same path to
Hollywood that her famous aunt, Jean Harlow stepped on. But June at the
age of 16 was sick of high School in St. Louis and answered an ad that
read "Girls Wanted --- No Experience Neccessary", from here she was told
what she had to do"..get up there and take it off and when it's off shake
what's left"
Making it as far as Florida and making $35 a week she came under criticism from a club manager who told her that she would never succeed in this business unless she lost some weight and got herself some gimmicks. She took him seriously, shed some pounds, returning the amazing resemblance to Jean Harlow and improved her performance on stage. One of the gimmicks that she added to her show was an MC by the name of Russ DiMaggio, brother of the famous baseball star. They later married and by the age of 18 June Harlow was in the big leagues of stripperdom. |
