Trudy Wayne Gallery

Trudy Wayne was born Gertrude Goldie Goldberg in California. After the loss of her mother at an early age, her father Abe decided to pack up and move east with the Goldie, her sister Natalie and brother Sammy. Times were tough and Abe decided it was best to place the two girls in The Pride of Judea Children’s Home in Brooklyn. Goldie spent about 10 years of her life in the home and upon leaving attended beauty culture school, but in the end decided that this wasn't for her. She had visions of becoming an actress but in the end decided to become a dancer, starting out in the chorus line at the Roxy and learning to dance by watching the ballroom team of Tony and Sally De Marco. Her big break came one day when one of the burlesque dancers didn't show up and Goldie was the only one that could fit the costume, this was the birth of her new career.

Goldie began billing herself as Trudy Wayne “The Golden Girl from the Golden West”, the name coming from the fact that she was blonde and she originally came from California. Her act included a classy bit of stripping, some graceful dancing, a Mae West take-off and some classic posing. Goldie was the epitome of glamour. Every where she went all eyes were on her and people knew she was a show girl just from looking at her. She lit up a room and was the life of a party. Her personality was a little ditsy but in a very humorous way and people enjoyed her sexiness & sense of humor.

A very special thank you to Renee Zwerman, niece of Trudy Wayne, for providing the information for this biography.
